Its interior is absolutely breath-taking, with a unique main hall presenting an awe-inspiring venue for a wedding reception. Once only open to a selected few, Vila Bled now awaits you and your wedding guests to fill its rooms and park with cheers.
This wonderful place, hidden from the world in the embrace of a magnificent park on the shores of the most special Alpine lake, has a long and most intriguing history.
It all started when Austrian aristocrat Duke Ernest Windischgrätz built a large two-storey villa in the late 18th century. It resembled an English country mansion and soon became quite the extravagant place to visit in Bled. In 1902, the Duke’s son married the Austro-Hungarian emperor’s granddaughter, and the first stop on their lavish honeymoon was none other than Vila Bled.
The building you see today was completed in 1947 on those same foundations and served as the summer residence of Yugoslav President Tito. He welcomed many eminent dignitaries to the Vila Bled, including Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie, the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, Egyptian President Nasser, Emperor Akihito of Japan and even the President of North Korea Kim Il-sung. Quite a colourful bunch indeed. Tito also used it to host numerous famous movie stars and other famous people.
Vila Bled became a luxurious hotel in 1984. Its modern-day visitors included England’s Prince Charles, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Spanish King Juan Carlos, Paul McCartney, William Hurt, Laura Bush and others. The hotel even has its own direct access to the lake’s shore – of course it does – from where celebrities would venture by pletna to Bled Island.
Stunning architecture isn’t the only appealing thing about this powerful place. Vila Bled has a huge, specious park, where Tito used to hunt with his diplomatic friends. The park, like the Vila, is there to impress, and impress it shall. You can stroll around the grounds and go for your wedding photo shoot amidst these wonderful surroundings.
Standing proudly in the park is a lovely Belvedere Pavilion, designed by Slovenia’s most renowned architect, Jože Plčenik. It offers more stunning views of Lake Bled and Bled Island and an intimate atmosphere that will be remembered by the newlyweds and the wedding guests forever. Once upon a time, Tito used to host his famous tea parties there. Now you get to host your lavish wedding party.
Stepping back inside to mingle with your wedding guests, you can admire the exceptional Concert Hall with its high ceiling from which 900 Murano glass lights dangle while everyone else admires you two. The hall has direct access to the terrace, which offers another magnificent view of Lake Bled. Then comes the feast, prepared by the Vila Bled restaurant, known for its exquisite cuisine that will pamper everyone’s taste buds to the fullest.
This timeless place has all the right ingredients for a romantic wedding like no other. Shielded from the rest of the world, Vila Bled offers the highest level of privacy while affording the utmost attention when or if the need arises. And a dream wedding demands a bit of both, don’t you think?
Ascending its majestic staircase, mingling with guests in the park (or getting lost in its vastness with your sweetheart), enjoying the ageless architecture and Vila Bled’s unbelievable location makes it the perfect wedding venue.
If you want to experience the lavishness of old, combined with the natural splendour of Lake Bled, Vila Bled is your dream wedding venue and more. Your mansion, dear lovers, awaits!
